City Heights Announces Shop Local Passport Program Supporting University Avenue Businesses
The City Heights Community Development Corporation (CHCDC) is thrilled to announce the launch of the University Avenue Shop Local Passport Program, a 5-week campaign designed to support local businesses impacted by ongoing construction along University Avenue. From March 6th to April 12th, 2025, residents are invited to shop, explore, and earn exciting rewards while helping our community thrive.
Why the Shop Local Passport Program?
University Avenue is the heart of City Heights, home to a vibrant mix of small businesses that contribute to the unique character of our neighborhood. However, the ongoing construction has made it challenging for these businesses to maintain foot traffic and revenue.
The Shop Local Passport Program is our way of rallying the community to support these businesses during this difficult time. By participating, you’ll not only help keep our local economy strong but also enjoy exclusive rewards and prizes!

How It Works
Pick Up Your Passport:
Starting March 6th, visit participating businesses along University Avenue to collect your Shop Local Passport from a local participating business.Shop & Collect Stamps:
For every purchase you make at a participating business, you’ll earn a stamp on your passport. Some businesses may even host Double-Stamp Days for extra rewards!Win Rewards:
5 Stamps: Receive free exclusive merchandise.
10 Stamps: Enter weekly drawings for $25+ gift cards to local businesses.
20 Stamps: Qualify for the Grand Prize Drawing—a $250+ gift basket filled with gift cards and local experiences!
Submit Your Passport:
Completed passports can be turned in at designated locations or submitted digitally via social media using #ShopLocalPassport.
Grand Finale: Taste of City Heights
To celebrate the success of the campaign, we’re hosting the First Annual Taste of City Heights on Saturday, April 12th, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. This community event will feature:
Local Food & Drink Tastings: Sample the diverse flavors of City Heights.
Pop-Up Shops & Vendor Booths: Discover unique products from local businesses.
Live Entertainment & Giveaways: Enjoy music, performances, and more!
Grand Prize Announcement: The winner of the $250+ gift basket will be revealed!
