Coordinated Eviction Prevention System (CEPS) Program
The CEPS program provides support to eligible low-income households in the County of San Diego with the aim of preventing renters from receiving an eviction notice and is focused on case management and wrap-around services.
This program will use a collaborative approach of providing coordinated eviction prevention services and referrals. The supportive services that may be offered vary by the needs of each household. Applications will be reviewed in the order they are received on first-come, first-served basis to meet the programs qualifications and to determine eligibility.
To be eligible for this program, you must:
Reside in San Diego County
Qualify as a low income household according to the income limits in the chart below (download flyer below for more info)
Currently does not have any form of eviction notice
Note: Rental assistance eligibility varies from household to household and is not guaranteed. A CEPS Outreach & Intake Specialist will contact applicants after submitting an interest form. Applicants will be asked to provide proof of income including paystubs, CalWORKs benefits, Social Security, Social Security Disability Insurance, and Employment Development Department (EDD) award letters to verify household income.
Preventing evictions changes everything!
Tenant stories:
Thank you to St. Paul's Senior Services for the wonderful opportunity earlier this month to share with their community members about the Coordinated Evictions Prevention System (CEPS) Program.
During this series of workshops, our team’s goal is to inform tenants and landlords about their duties and rights, ensuring fair practices and protections are in place for both.
“I don’t think people realize how humiliated renters can be, how few rights we have, and how often landlords break or go around the few protections we do have…”
Our eviction prevention work began as a simple idea: what if we could keep people housed by preventing an eviction, keeping people housed for another month and getting at the root cause of most homelessness?
In many ways, it was a grand experiment…
“My family and I were evicted just a few years after we moved to the United States. I was around 8 years old, maybe younger, and it was traumatic. You don't forget those things…”
Let’s celebrate a housing justice win!
We teamed up with the Legal Aid Society of San Diego on Monday, April 4th to present in favor of the City of San Diego No Fault Eviction Moratorium.
“When my husband left us early in the pandemic, I was so afraid…”
Norma tugged at her bracelet then continued: “I thought my world might fall apart, or maybe it already had. It was a dark place. One day, I simply made the decision to believe in myself, to believe I could make it through this. So I went out and bought this bracelet.”
When Marta was one month away from being out on the streets, you stepped in…
