Residents Envision "Joyful & Just" Transit At Transit & Tacos!

Thanks to all who joined us for the return of Transit & Tacos!

Over 90 people spoke up for a more ‘joyful and just’ transit experience in their community, writing down ideas for transit improvements and sharing experiences around tables.

The event was part of MTS' Social Equity Listening Tour and will inform how MTS can create an improved transit experience.

Special thanks to Monique of Pueblo Planning for moderating, to MTS for taking time to hear from City Heights residents, to our friends at Mid-City CAN and the Environmental Health Coalition for helping get the word out, El Borrego for the tacos, and to all the residents and volunteers who work tirelessly to make our community safer and more prosperous!

The event was special for many reasons: first Transit & Tacos since the pandemic started, multi-generational attendees as seniors and children shared their hopes for our transit, and the event happened just a short walk away from several historic transit justice wins like the SR-15 Centerline Bus Rapid Transit Stations, the nearby bikeway, and Teralta Park, California’s only park above a freeway and the center of our regional transportation justice movement.

Thanks to all who made the event possible, and stay tuned for a followup event on Thursday, August 18 where we’ll host a follow up meeting for this project with the City Heights Built Environment Team facilitated by Pueblo Planning. Join us from 5pm to 6:30pm on Zoom: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87573603321
