"I really want to keep growing as a person"—Meet Yosief!

Friends, meet one of our amazing scholarship winners, Yosief! After just a few minutes chatting with Yosief, it was clear: he is active, involved, and bright.

“I love getting involved in new things, trying new things and just exploring. I’ve been in many clubs and organizations, just trying to get an idea of what I like to do. I really want to keep growing as a person, ya know?”

This is a common theme among the scholarship recipients: the desire to grow. They aren’t content to keep still or slow down when there’s so much out there to explore and learn.

To be honest, chatting with these young people has been one of the most enjoyable and encouraging things our team has worked on this month. Negativity seems to hang over our communities like rain clouds, but seeing the brilliance of these young people and all that’s ahead for them has felt like warm sunshine.

When asked about the challenges he has faced up to this point, Yosief expressed something many of us have felt: “I’ve sometimes struggled with self doubt, but I know if I put in the work, I can achieve anything.”

So true! Things can feel discouraging. Students like Yosief remind us there’s a lot to be hopeful about.
